Hype5 Theater 0.7.0 · Beta — by invitation

Settings

On this page

Settings (Seaded) hold the plugin's site-wide options that are not presentation details: display defaults, single-page templates and permalink bases, plus read-only information about language, integrations and the system. This page describes the Settings screen of the Hype5 app (Hype5 Theater → Settings), which requires manage_hype5t_settings. Since Theater 0.7.0 users whose only Hype5 permission is Settings open the app too, and its Overview points them to Settings and Vocabularies. The classic Settings screen, which edits the same values, is used only where the app is switched off.

Tabs

Tab Editable Contents
General (Üldine) yes Display defaults: cast images (No images, Small portrait, Large person card) and the image viewer (lightbox) for galleries, production posters and person portraits. Appearance settings take precedence when they are set.
Content (Sisu) yes Clean single templates: use the plugin's own single-page template for productions, people and venues instead of the theme's single-post layout (classic and block themes). A theme can keep its own template; Hype5 Stage does.
Permalinks (Püsiviited) yes The four permalink bases (below).
Language and time (Keel ja aeg) no Site and user language, time zone, date and time formats, first day of the week, Hype5 translations, translation plugin, public text overrides. Links to WordPress's General settings.
WordPress screens (WordPressi vaated) no Links to the WordPress screens that own what the app does not edit (General, Permalinks, Reading, Media, Users, Theme) and to the Hype5 System Status screen, as far as you may open them.
Editor compatibility (Redaktori ühilduvus) no Classic Editor for Hype5 content, the editor of other post types, blocks, shortcodes.
Integrations (Integratsioonid) no Registered add-ons and their compatibility, active theme, translation plugin, ELAB links, the public REST API base.
Advanced (Täpsem) no Plugin and database versions, tables, theme template overrides, multisite, debug mode, who may open the app (everyone with a Hype5 Theater permission — with a note when a site plugin switches it off for some users — or switched off when HYPE5_THEATER_FUAJEE is false), and what happens to data when the plugin is removed (it is kept). Continue in WordPress: System status opens the System Status screen.

Each editable tab saves its own group. The tab is part of the address, so it stays open after saving and reloading.

Base Default Address example
Productions productions /productions/hamlet/; the productions archive is /productions/
People people /people/mari-maasikas/; the people archive is /people/
Venues venues /venues/main-stage/ (venues have no archive)
Genres theater-genre /theater-genre/drama/

Rules: each base must be a valid, non-empty slug of at most 100 bytes, must not be wp-admin, wp-json, feed or page, and the four bases must differ. Saving a changed base refreshes WordPress's address rules.

Consequences. Changing a base changes the address of every page of that kind at once. Hype5 adds no redirects from the old addresses: links from other sites, search results, bookmarks and printed material that use the old address may stop working (WordPress itself sometimes guesses the new address of a single page from its slug, but not reliably). Choose the bases before the site is public, or add redirects yourself.

The bases are not used while WordPress uses plain permalinks (?p=123). For separate bases per language, configure a translation plugin that translates the registered slugs, such as Polylang Pro or WPML (neither was tested with Theater 0.7.0; see Compatibility).

Example: the demo site. The fictional Black Box Theater demo shown in the screenshots uses the bases productions, people, venues and genres (so a genre page is /genres/drama/ there, not the default /theater-genre/drama/). It used Estonian bases before; its redirects from those old addresses come from a small site-specific plugin, not from Hype5 Theater. Your site may use any valid bases.

Changing a base is different from choosing a collection page: a collection page makes the built-in collection address redirect to a page you choose, while single production and person addresses stay as they are.

Who may open the Hype5 app follows each user's permissions and is not edited here (see The Hype5 app). Presentation is in Appearance; reusable lists are in Vocabularies.
