Credits and cast

Credits record who did what in a production. A credit can point to a person profile or simply carry a name, so a full cast list never requires a profile for everyone.

Where credits are edited

Open a production and choose Credits (Meeskond). The classic editor has the same data in its Credits tab.

One row is one relationship

Each credit row records one relationship between a name and the production:

  • Name — choose a person profile, or type a name and keep it as a name without a profile (free name). A profile is optional.
  • Job (required) — the work in this production, for example Director or Actor. It is free text, separate from the person's professions.
  • Character — the role a performer plays on stage. Job and character are separate fields.
  • Group — Cast, Creative, Production team, Technical or With Thanks.
  • Affiliation — optional company or organisation and its web address, shown next to the name (for example for a guest).
  • Public — a hidden credit is kept but not shown on public pages.

Someone with two jobs in one production has two rows. A row without a job, or without a name or profile, is marked and not saved.

Alternating cast

When several performers play the same role in turns, mark the rows as alternating. Rows with the same group, job and character form one set and are shown publicly as Name or Name. Changing the job or character of one row takes it out of the set (you are asked first).

Information rows

An information row is a line of text placed among the credits (for example a thank-you note). It is not a person or a credit.

Working in the editor

  • Reorder by dragging or with Alt + arrow keys; search filters the rows.
  • In the person picker, type a name to find profiles, keep the typed name, or choose Create a new person “…”. The new profile is saved at once; the production draft stays unsaved until you save it.
  • Credits are saved with the production's Save.
  • Changing credits needs the manage credits permission (manage_hype5t_credits); without it the credits are read-only.
  • On a translation, credits are read-only: they are shared and edited on the original-language production.

On the website

  • Credits are shown on the production page grouped as Cast, Creative, Production team, Technical and With Thanks. The layout (inline, list, table or grid), images, characters, professions, affiliations and links are chosen in the Appearance studio or per production under Display.
  • A name links to the person's profile only when the profile is published and its public page is allowed. See People.
  • Hidden credits are never shown, also not through the REST API.
  • Credits of a password-protected production are not shown until the visitor enters the password, and never in cross-page lists such as person profiles. See Security and content visibility.
  • A credit is the production's information: hiding a person's profile does not remove the name from cast lists. To remove a name from a production page, hide or remove the credit row.

Job and profession are different

The job in a credit describes the work in this production and is free text. A person's professions come from the Professions vocabulary and describe the person in general. Neither changes the other.
