Hype5 Stage 1.0.2 · Pre-release
Theme settings
Everything Stage stores is a WordPress theme modification, edited in Appearance → Customise → Hype5 Stage. Stage stores nothing for Hype5 Theater.
On this page
The Customiser panel Hype5 Stage (Customize in US English) has four sections. Invalid values fall back to the default, both when saving and when reading.
Lights and layout
| Setting | Values (default first) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Lights default | System · Lights up · Lights down | What a first-time visitor sees. Visitors change it with the Lights switch; their choice is kept in their browser only. See Lights. |
| Blend a dark single-colour logo into the page | off | For a black logo on a transparent or white background: a white background takes the page colour, and the logo turns light in Lights down and over a full-bleed photograph or film. The logo file is not changed. Forced-colours mode shows the file as it is. |
| Corners | Rounded · Square | Rounded: pictures 12 px, small thumbnails 6 px, cards 18 px, small panels 14 px, controls 10 px, text 4 px; pills always round. Square sets everything except pills to 0. |
| Content width | 1280 · 1120 · 1200 · 1360 px | Also written to theme.json (contentSize), so the editor and blocks agree. |
| Wide width | 1520 · 1440 · 1600 px | Used from 1680 px screens upwards; below that, wide equals the content width. theme.json wideSize. |
Home page
| Setting | Values | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Top of the home page | Marquee · Full-bleed photograph · Full-bleed film | Without a chosen photograph the home page always shows the Marquee. |
| Performances in the marquee | 1–12, default 5 | The next performances still going ahead (scheduled or sold out), from Hype5 Theater's public schedule. |
| Productions on the poster wall | 0–15, default 5 | Distinct productions in repertoire (playing, on hold, coming soon), ordered by next date; 0 hides the wall. |
| Show the company in the next production | on | The cast of the first marquee production in 2:3 portrait frames, or a cast list when no portraits exist. |
| Show the front page's own content below | on | The content of the page chosen as the front page in Settings → Reading. |
| Text on the photograph or film | The next performance · A season message | Next: the first marquee line is shown on the picture, the rest continue below. Season: small line, heading, second line, buttons to the schedule and the people directory, and the next performance as a cue. |
| Season message: small line, heading, second line | text | Used by the season mode; the heading is required for it. |
Home page photograph or film
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Photograph | Also the film's poster. At least 2400 px wide. Loaded first, with high priority. |
| Phone poster | Optional portrait image for screens narrower than 768 px. |
| Focal point across / down (%) | Which part of the picture stays in view when it is cropped to the screen. Defaults 50 % and 40 %. |
| Shade under the text | Soft · Medium (default) · Strong. Choose by the picture so that the text stays readable against its brightest part. |
| Caption | A vertical caption on the photograph; the line under the film. |
| Film, WebM / MP4 | Self-hosted files only — embeds cannot be a silent background. Muted and looped; loaded only after the page has loaded and only while the top of the page is on screen. |
| Play the film by itself on large screens | On. Never with reduced motion, Save-Data, slow connections (2G/3G) or on phones up to 767 px — there the Play button shows the download size. A visitor's Pause is remembered in their browser. The film pauses when the tab is hidden or the film leaves the screen. |
Header and footer
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Show the header button | on | |
| Header button text / link | Tickets → the Hype5 Theater schedule | Never a purchase link unless you enter one. Hidden when there is no link (for example without Hype5 Theater and no link entered). |
| Show search in the header | on | Opens a search panel; without JavaScript, a link to the search page. |
| Footer: about the company | the site tagline | |
| Footer: small print | © year and site name |
Menus and widgets are described in Navigation, header and footer. The logo and site icon are WordPress's own settings in Site Identity; see Typography and media.
Hype5 Theater settings that Stage reads
Stage honours the plugin's Appearance choices exactly as saved — layouts of production pages, casts, schedules, galleries, person pages and lists; section order and disabled sections; card, gallery and hero options; labels; and the plugin's custom CSS, which stays last and therefore wins. It never changes them.
While Stage is active, the plugin's ten public colour tokens follow Stage's Lights scheme so that Lights down also works on Theater components. The colours saved in Appearance are not changed and apply again under any other theme. See Hype5 Theater integration.
Filters for developers
| Filter | Default | Use |
|---|---|---|
hype5_stage_theater_enhancements |
true when Hype5 Theater 0.6.17 with the Phase 5K presentation contract is active | Return false to render Stage as a plain theme even with the plugin active. |
hype5_stage_layer_theater_styles |
true | Return false to load the plugin's stylesheets without a cascade layer (normal cascade). |
// Show Stage without its Hype5 Theater templates.
add_filter( 'hype5_stage_theater_enhancements', '__return_false' );
Where settings are stored
All Stage settings are theme modifications (theme_mods_hype5-stage, keys prefixed stage_). They are kept when you switch to another theme and when you update Stage.
