General

What is Hype5?

A family of WordPress products for theatres and performing-arts companies: the Hype5 Theater plugin and the Hype5 Stage theme. See Introduction to Hype5.

Is Hype5 available?

Not publicly. Hype5 Theater 0.7.0 is a beta given to invited sites, and Hype5 Stage 1.0.2 is in pre-release testing; neither is publicly available. General availability, distribution and licensing have not been announced. See Product overview.

Do I need both products?

No. Hype5 Theater is designed to work with any classic or block theme (tested with Hype5 Stage 1.0.2 and Twenty Twenty-Five, and in limited runs with Twenty Twenty-One), and Hype5 Stage works without the plugin. Together, Stage presents the plugin's content in its own design. See Which combination do I need?

Hype5 Theater

Does Hype5 sell tickets?

No. A ticket offer is a link to the seller you already use, with optional prices and availability. Hype5 shows a ticket button only under a precise rule.

Does every person in a cast list need a profile?

No. A credit can carry just a name. Profiles are optional. See Credits and cast.

Can one person have two jobs in a production?

Yes — add two credit rows. One row is one relationship between a name and a production.

Why are performances not part of the production form?

A production is the work; each performance is a separate dated event with its own venue, time zone, status and ticket offers. This lets you enter series and tours in one go and keep history. See Schedule and performances.

Does Hype5 archive old productions automatically?

No. Set the repertory status to Archived yourself. Archived productions keep their address. See Productions → Archiving.

What is the Hype5 app, and why do I see the old menu?

The Hype5 app (Fuajee) is where Hype5 Theater is managed: Hype5 Theater in the WordPress sidebar opens it for everyone with a Hype5 Theater administration permission; no site administrator needs to enable it. If Hype5 Theater shows the classic submenu (Overview, Content, Schedule, …) instead, the app is switched off on your site (or for you), or the plugin package is incomplete. See The Hype5 app.

Does it work with the block editor? With page builders?

Hype5's own content is edited in the Hype5 app; when a production, person or venue is opened in WordPress, it always uses the Classic Editor (no plugin needed). In pages and posts, use shortcodes — also in page builders that render shortcodes — or the two blocks. See Compatibility.

Does it support multilingual sites?

Yes, with WPML or Polylang. Shared data such as performances and credits is stored once, on the original language. See Translation and localisation.

Which languages does the administration use?

English and Estonian are included; each user sees their own WordPress language. See Translation and localisation.

What happens to my data if I remove the plugin?

Nothing is deleted. Productions, people, performances, credits, settings, the role and the capabilities stay in the database. See Installation.

Can I change how productions look?

Yes, in the Appearance studio, per production under Display, with shortcode attributes, design tokens and custom CSS, or with template overrides in your theme.

Can I show a map of the venue?

Not with Hype5 Theater. Venue coordinates are stored, but no map, geocoding or routing is included.

Hype5 Stage

Does Stage store any theatre data?

No. Everything Stage stores is its own presentation settings. Productions, people, performances and their display options stay in Hype5 Theater.

Can visitors switch to a dark scheme?

Yes. The Lights switch offers Lights up, Lights down and System, remembered in the visitor's browser. See Lights.

Why does the header menu not show sub-items?

By design: the header shows top-level items only. Put deeper pages in a footer menu. See Navigation.

WordPress does not accept SVG uploads and Stage does not enable them. Use a PNG at twice the displayed size. See Logo and site icon.

Documentation

Is there an offline version of this documentation?

Yes. Each product has an offline HTML manual that opens from documentation/index.html, with navigation and search, and no internet connection needed. See Offline manuals.

Which version do these pages describe?

The versions named on Documentation versions: Hype5 Theater 0.7.0 (Beta — by invitation) and Hype5 Stage 1.0.2 (Pre-release).
