Productions

On this page

A production (lavastus) is the work: its story, facts, credits, media and visitor information. Its dates are separate performance records (see Schedule). This page describes the productions list and the production editor of the Hype5 app, the publishing states and the repertory status; the WordPress editor of a production edits the same data and remains as a compatibility screen.

Productions list

Productions shows title, publication status, repertory status, next performance, number of credits and last change. Filter by repertory (All, Active, Playing, Coming soon, Archive), search by title and sort. The list shows the 500 most recently changed productions; use the WordPress list for older ones, and for bulk actions, Trash and Quick Edit.

Add production opens the editor in an unsaved state. Nothing exists in WordPress until the first Save as draft, which creates one draft and continues editing it. Only Story and details is available before that first save.

Production editor

The header shows the poster, title, publication status, a link to the public page, Publishing…, Preview (saved data, new tab), Save and a menu (copy public link, open in the WordPress editor, revisions).

All sections below share one draft and one Save, except Performances and Publishing, which save separately.

Tabs read Story and details, Credits 31, Performances 4, Media and materials 0, Visitor information, Partners and links 0 and Display. The main column holds the Title field with Macbeth, the Introduction with the text Power leaves a shadow, and the Content editor with its Visual and Code tabs and formatting toolbar; the side column holds the poster image with Replace and Remove image, and Repertory and premiere with the status Playing, the premiere date 18/09/2026 and the premiere venue Main Stage.

Section Contents
Story and details (Sisu ja andmed) Title; text in WordPress's editor; short introduction (teaser) and the separate WordPress excerpt; poster image; repertory status; premiere date and venue; duration, acts and interval; language; production type (own, guest or co-production, with guest company and website); presentation mode (home, touring, mixed); historical audience; genres and audience recommendations, plus a custom recommendation.
Credits (Meeskond) Who made the production, one row per relationship. See Credits and cast.
Performances (Etendused) Upcoming or past performances of the production, 50 per page; see Schedule and performances. Opens a performance or the composer over the editor. Performance changes save on their own and need the Schedule permission.
Media and materials (Meedia ja materjalid) See Media and galleries. Gallery from the media library (drag or Alt + arrow keys to reorder; people tagged per image), programme file, downloadable files, videos, audio links and external galleries. Removing an image removes it only from the production; the file stays in the media library. Caption, alt text and photographer belong to the media file and are edited in WordPress's attachment editor.
Visitor information (Külastajainfo) See Visitor information. Warnings from the vocabulary plus your own warning text; accessibility features and text; parking and visitor information; typed practical rows (arrival, latecomers, cloakroom and so on). Venue defaults and per-performance services are shown for reference and edited where they belong.
Partners and links (Partnerid ja lingid) See Partners and links. ELAB reference (a numeric ID or an HTTPS link on elab.ee), partners with type and logo, articles and reviews with an optional featured quote, other links.
Display (Kuvamine) Presentation choices for this production only. Each control shows whether it is Inherited (from Appearance, a layout default or the built-in default), an Own value (Own value · same when it equals the inherited value but no longer follows it) or an Add-on value (kept; the inherited value applies while the add-on is inactive). Restore inheritance removes this production's own value.

If a production has translations, credits, performances, the gallery and its tags, and all row lists (files, videos, partners, articles, links, visitor rows) belong to the original-language production and are read-only on a translation, with a link to the original. Texts and display choices are each translation's own.

Publishing

Publishing… opens a panel that edits WordPress's own publication fields and saves separately from the editor. It offers WordPress's five statuses — Draft, Pending review, Published, Scheduled, Private — the publication time in the site's time zone, visibility (Public or Password protected) and the address. The action button is named for what happens (Publish, Schedule, Submit for review, Switch to draft, Update …). With unsaved editor changes it can save them first and publish only if that save succeeded.

Users who may edit but not publish can submit a draft for review; they cannot publish, schedule, make private, set a password or change the publication time.

Four separate things

Concept Meaning
Publication status Whether the production page is on the website (WordPress status).
Visibility Public, password protected or private.
Repertory status Coming soon, Playing, On hold or Archived — where the production is in the repertoire.
Performance status Per performance: scheduled, sold out, cancelled, postponed.

Changing one never changes another. The publication time is when the page is published, not a performance time.

Password-protected productions

See also Security and content visibility.

Until a visitor enters the password, the production page shows only the title and WordPress's password form. Elsewhere on the site — production lists, person profiles, the general schedule, and (since Theater 0.7.0) another page that shows the production with a shortcode or block — a protected production shows at most its title, address, poster, genres, audience recommendation and premiere (where it is embedded: the title and the password form), and never its performances, ticket offers, teaser or credits, even after the visitor has entered the password.

Archiving

Set the repertory status to Archived when a run has finished. Archived productions:

  • keep their address — also when someone who may not publish submits the production for review;
  • move to the archive context of production lists and to Past productions on person profiles;
  • show past performances on their page by default.

Hype5 never archives a production automatically. When a Playing production has no future performances, the Overview lists it under Needs attention (the WordPress editor shows a reminder too).
